CAUTION:
It is very important to remember that you are in possession of a product constructed
from stone that has sharp elements to its composition that can damage a surface
it is placed upon if it is tipped, dropped or mishandled, etc. Also, oil used in
this product can and will stain wood and other surfaces. It is the Possessor's sole
responsibility to place (or not place) some form of protective shield between this
product and Possessor's fine surfaces in case of oil spill. It is highly recommended
by the manufacturer that oil dispensed in this product should be lit and consumed
in its entirety during each lighting session. Please read "WHEN NOT IN USE" below
for further elaboration. Every effort must be made by the possessor of this product
to protect that which you cherish most.
Information, Instructions and Care of your Grandle©
Allow me to introduce you to Grandles© , -- a new idea in handcrafted, made in the USA, Family Heirlooms -- the perfect gift for someone you love -- or just for yourself. Handcrafted from the finest granites, marbles, agates, onyx and quartz from around the world, they will surely be around as long in the future as they have been since the formation of the earth itself. Not many other heirloom treasures can boast that kind of longevity. Our customers use them by their bathtub or bedside, mantle and hearth, coffee table or holiday feast spread, both indoors, or outdoors, the beauty and ambience of a Grandle© makes them a treasure and a pleasure for all to enjoy for years to come. The stone will not radiate heat to fine surfaces below.
USE:
Primary oil should be limited to Ultra Pure for indoor use. Adding a few drops
of your favorite scented oil will add ambience to any room or use with Citronella
oil on your patio to aid in the control of pesky insects.
FILLING THE OIL RESERVOIR:
First remove the wickholder and wick together as one piece from the top of the
stone. Then use the small dispenser bottle (available from the address below), to
dispense oil into the reservoir through the wick hole. Up to 7 hours of burn time
will result with a complete filling of the reservoir. It is suggested to only place
an approximate amount of oil equivalent to the quantity of time you desire to burn
your Grandle©. Use Ultra Pure 99% paraffin oil, (found at most discount retailers
that carry candle products), for smokeless, odorless burning.
WICK USE AND ADJUSTMENT:
Since each wick is made from fiberglass and dissipates the oil evenly throughout
the flame without burning the wick, it should never need replacing. If the wick
looks "charred” and resists lighting, due to the burnt oil on the tip, it can be
carefully scraped with fingernail file edge, knife or scissors to loosen the charring
and restore oil flow to the surface of the wick for easier lighting. Raise or lower
the wick in the wick holder to adjust the height of the flame. Replacement Wicks
are $6.00 (package of 3 wicks) plus shipping. See contact information below.
OUTDOOR:
For outdoor use under breezy conditions, extend the wick slightly and fluff
to withstand being blown out. Primary oil should be limited to Ultra Pure or Tiki
(citronella) for best results.
WHEN NOT IN USE:
It is best to allow this product to completely burn out the reservoir of oil
during each use. Fill reservoir with only as much oil as expected to use during
the current burn session. On rare occasions, the fiberglass wick material has worked
almost too well, continuing to draw oil out of the reservoir after the flame was
extinguished. To eliminate the possibility of oil pooling on top the stone or dripping
off the stone, you can do one of three things: 1) burn reservoir completely out
(best solution), 2) make sure the tip of the fiberglass wick is below the top of
the brass wick holder, or 3) remove all wicks, lay in paper towel and press nearly
dry. Store wicks in a resealable "ziplock" plastic bag until the next use. For the
rare Grandle© owner that experiences this situation, this should eliminate any problem.
See CAUTION above. REMEMBER - the best way to avoid a potential problem is to burn
the candle until the reservoir is completely empty or follow one of the other options
above.
CLEANING:
To nearly eliminate the need for cleaning the stone, simply raise the brass
wick holder assembly about 1/4th to 3/8th inch above the stone before lighting.
Any cleaning of the Grandle© can be accomplished by simply using rubbing alcohol
on a cotton pad/ball. If a light abrasive is called for, a 50/50 mixture of baking
soda/liquid dish soap usually does the trick.
ANTIQUING:
If you have purchased a lighter colored stone, you can choose to antique your
stone rather than regularly cleaning it with baking soda and soap. To antique your
Grandle©, just wipe a thin coating of your Ultra Pure oil over the full face of
the surface. Consider burning your flame a little higher by raising the wick in
the wick holder. This will warm the stone so that it will begin to absorb the oil
giving it an even antique coloring. Without regular cleaning, the stone will tend
to antique itself in circles around each wick. Coating the face of the stone with
a light coating of oil will encourage the stone to antique more evenly across its
entire face.
Should you ever have an issue with your Grandle(s)© we do want to know about it and will diligently work to resolve it with you. Thank you. Comments are always welcome.
